The Philosophy and What You'll Learn
​Blue Ocean Swimming is located in Paradise Valley, AZ 85253
Blue Ocean Swimming is a one-person business offering services to you
​at your home, gym, or other facilities.
The Blue Ocean Swimming coaching philosophy revolves around the simple idea that swimming = buoyancy + propulsion. Once you  trust your body's ability to float, you will be on your way to effortless kicking, swimming and treading in the water. 

Fundamentals of Swimming

The Fundamentals of Swimming program will teach you everything you need to become a swimmer.

Understanding buoyancy and propulsion
is the key to effortless swimming. Your coach is an expert at helping people find their buoyancy.

By learning to become aware of what your body is doing in the water, you will develop skills that are
​repeatable and help you build confidence.​

Skills taught in Fundamentals of Swimming 

Face in the water skills like holding your breath, controlling your exhalation, and breathing in
Floating in place on your front and back 
Recovering/standing  the front and back positions
Propelling yourself with under-water arm strokes on your front and back
​Vertical floating/treading water​ ​in the deep end of the pool

Learn Freestyle Swimming

The Learn Freestyle Swimming program will help you build a freestyle swimming stroke.
Your coach will teach you to understand, execute, and repeat the components of a Freestyle Swimming stroke. You'll start by learning to use the concept of buoyancy + propulsion move down  the pool with under-water techniques.
Next, you'll learn how to float and kick on your side. Then, you'll use an under-over approach to roll on each side. 
 Finally, you'll learn about keeping constant motion, arm recovery and entry, all leading to 1,2 Breathe swimming.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS
IT HELPS IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE IN DEEP WATER
​BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THIS PROGRAM 

Skills taught in Learn Freestyle Swimming 

Breathing - learn how to manage your breathing
Propulsion - learn how to catch the water and move with it
Efficiency - learn how to feel efficient body positions that help you move freely through the water
​Kicking - learn how to, "feel the water on your feet", to help you kick without getting exhausted

You are a good candidate for this program ONLY if you say "YES" to the questions below:
  1. Are you comfortable in the deep end of the pool?
  2. Can you stay up in the deep end without having to hold onto the wall after for 1 minute?
  3. Are you comfortable with your face in the water?
  4. Are you comfortable with your face in the water and holding your breath?
  5. Can you lay on your back?

Endurance Lap Swimming

The Endurance Lap Swimming program is designed to take your Freestyle Stroke to a level of proficiency that will allow you to use swimming as a fitness and endurance exercise.
The Endurance Lap Swimming program will help you go become proficient enough to swim 20 laps without stopping. Your coach will introduce you to drills that improve your comfort and technique, which will lead to effortlessly swimming across the pool. 
At the end of a six-week program you'll see measurable results that show improvement in your efficiency and speed.

YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE IN DEEP WATER

Skills taught in Endurance Lap Swimming

How to improve your body position for efficient swimming
How to feel and feel, catch, and hold onto the water
How to utilize your core muscles by understanding, feeling, and practicing body rotation​How to incorporate rhythm, range and relaxation for longer, faster swimming

​You are a good candidate for this program ONLY if you can say "YES" to the questions below:
  1. Can you swim "freestyle" for at least 2 lengths of a swimming pool?
  2. Are you comfortable in the deep end of the pool?
  3. Can you stay up in the deep end without having to hold onto the wall after for 1-2 minutes?
  4. Are you comfortable with your face in the water and holding your breath?
  5. Are you comfortable with your face in the water and blowing out?
  6. Can you turn your head/body to the side to take a breath?
