Level One Swimming Program
The Level One program will help you build a "Freestyle" stroke from top to bottom. Coach Valentin like to describe swimming as simply as... "buoyancy + propulsion." This simple idea will be the guiding principle of every level of swimming. Stroking for distance and maintaining body position, along with understanding breathing, and "work/relax" movements will have you swimming "Freestyle" with comfort and control.
Who is this program for?
This program is for the person who is somewhat comfortable in the water. If you are NOT fearful or apprehensive in the deep water, you are considered a good Level One candidate. It's okay if you still find "treading water" somewhat challenging. You should not take Level One because you don't want to be a "Beginner". If you are unsure, take the Beginner Program. It's the best way to grow into a Level One swimmer.
Before you start...
While it may be true that you will learn important skills at each class you still need to get into a pool to practice in order improve your level of comfort at performing each skill. Coach, Valentin suggests that you secure a pool to practice in BEFORE you start any program. At Blue Ocean Swimming you are learning to develop a relationship with the water and not just learning how to swim. Find a place to have your dates with the water or your relationship will suffer.
